Performance Index. In Forza, vehicles are ranked by a letter system called PI (Performance Index). This scale ranges from "F" to "R1", with "F" being the lowest rank and "R1" being the highest. PI is measured on many different attributes such as power, torque, type of tires, suspension, weight, and even the balance of the car from front to back. Forza uses a classification and “Performance Index” scoring system to fairly balance cars across the game. This PI system refers to a ranking number based on a car’s best lap time around a simulated test track. The slower the lap time, the lower the PI number; the faster the lap time the higher the PI.

Performance Index This is a form of rating based on the overall performance of a given car. Like In the past, Car Class (and Performance Index) remains the backbone of the system. However, in previous Forza games, players had numerous ways to reach a class-based ceiling; for example, by boosting horsepower to absurd levels, even if the car was sitting on skinny tires. The Performance Index is a general rating of a car's performance, hence the name. It's not a measure of top speed or power, but of general performance, of which speed and power are only part of the picture. A car can be 40 MPH slower and still have matching PI if it has better grip, braking, and/or handling. Performance Index vs Actual Performance? (Forza Horizon 4) Hey gang, just got Horizon 4 and am having an absolute blast with it! Haven't played since Horizon 2 and I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on another game in the series. The demo blew me away and I had to have it!

Here's a  The Performance Index - abbreviated as P.I. or PI - is a car performance measuring system featured in Forza Motorsport 2 and all subsequent titles. The Performance Index evaluates five performance factors scored from 3.0 to 10.0 and assigns a car an alphanumeric performance class starting from 0 and capping at 999 or 1000. Forza uses a classification and “Performance Index” scoring system to fairly balance cars across the game. This works great for Forza 5 since most of the cars are the same as Forza 4. For new cars that aren't listed (like open wheel cars), I just choose a similar car and change the wheelbase/height/width. For example - I used a 2009 Lotus 2-Eleven to get a tune for the Lotus E21 F1 car.

Getting started is easy. Enter your car and track information, select the type of tune you want, and hit “Next”. Then copy the results into the tuning menu in Forza Motorsport 7 or Forza Horizon 4.

In Forza Horizon 3, tire upgrades have a stronger effect on the performance index of a car than other upgrade types, making it possible to skip multiple performance classes even without installing other upgrades beforehand. The weight is about 224 pounds less than stock. The front weight is 1% less at 53. And the performance index is 500. Let’s build this tune for Maple Valley.
